Hermès silk square “The Pony Express

Product code2569

Vintage Hermès square in silk twill titled “The pony express” published in 1993. Designed by Kermit Oliver, an American artist who has worked for Hermès. This scarf pays homage to the eponymous postal service that in 1860 linked Missouri to California thanks to intrepid horsemen, before the advent of the telegraph. The drawing depicts an American horseman in traditional dress, riding at full speed through wild landscapes, accompanied by details such as local animals and elements of Native American culture. The dominant colors are red, blue, ochre and green on a white background. This piece was reissued in 2012 in a smaller format, but has never been reissued in this format. A very fine piece, sought after by collectors. In very good condition.
