Description
Model History:
Created in 1974 by Henri d’Origny, the “Éperon d’Or” square embodies Hermès’ attachment to its saddlery heritage. This model is one of Hermès’ most emblematic, and has been reissued many times in a variety of colors. It translates the art of saddlery into an elegant ornamental language, where the world of the horse becomes the central motif. This square is one of the cult creations that has survived the decades without losing its superb look, and remains highly sought-after by collectors.
Exterior details:
The “Éperon d’Or” square features a symmetrical composition inspired by the equestrian world. In the center, four golden spurs form an elegant rosette, framed by sky-blue ribbons. Around them, a succession of bits, buckles, chains and straps evoke refined harnessing, treated with great graphic finesse. The contrast between shimmering golds and cool tones of midnight blue and glacier blue lends the ensemble a sophisticated, structured look. Signed Henri d’Origny, this design illustrates the Hermès art of magnifying equestrian codes with rigor and fantasy.
The inscription “Hermès Sellier Paris” appears in the lower center, along with the signature of the designer, Henri d’Origny, discreetly affixed in a corner. The original silk label is still present, confirming the authenticity and quality of the model. The fluid, glossy texture of the silk twill underlines the excellence of the finish.
