This Hermès silk twill scarf, entitled Cerès, is an exceptional vintage piece illustrating all the iconographic and artisanal richness of the house. Designed by Françoise Faconnet and first presented in 1967, it is inspired by Roman mythology and celebrates the goddess of the harvest in a lush, baroque composition. The central female figure, with her sculptural face and golden hair, embodies abundance, surrounded by birds, stylized flowers, ears of wheat, bunches of grapes and exquisite plant motifs. The whole is framed by an intense violet border with gold edging, which enhances a harmonious palette of periwinkle blue, midnight blue, saffron yellow, turquoise, wine lees and amber brown. This scarf has been preserved in remarkable condition: the silk is supple and shiny, and the colors retain all their original depth.
